The Study will consist of case studies of selected medical schools and a survey of all Sub-Saharan African medical schools. Ten schools will be site visited by teams made up of Advisory Board members and George Washington University faculty members. These case studies will be designed to develop perspective on the challenges and opportunities facing medical education in the region. The schools were chosen based on consultations with SAMSS Advisory Committee members, key informants, and knowledge of the literature on African medical education. The selected schools represent a mix of geography, language, and curriculum types.
